Enerty Express Energy Express is a six-week summer program promoting the school success
of children living in rural and low-income communities across West
Virginia by:
Providing summer learning experiences focused on reading.
Serving two nutritious family-style meals each day.
Engaging college students in service through AmeriCorps.
Developing strong partnerships involving parents, schools, communities,
and state agencies and organizations.
Central United Methodist Church is one of two sites in Marion County.
This will be our fourth year of doing the program.
48 students are mentored by six college students plus a site coordinator
and a volunteer coordinator. Over a dozen volunteer
junior high tutors assists the mentors
Each student attending receives two free meals plus free transportation
to and from the site
In Marion County the program is a collaboration of WVU Extension
Service, the Family Resource Network, the Marion County
School System, North Central Community Action, and Central United
Methodist Church

Lots of Daily Activities, including: Crafts, beads, puzzles, crayons,
paint, legos, card games, matchbox cars, books to read, basketball,
football, kickball, Red Rover,
Free Meals, Movies, Learning, and much more
3 Counselors: Mary Ann Jordan, Megan Woodson, Ryan Currant
Every Day the children will receive a free hot lunch .
Special Activities will include swimming at East Marion Pool
